Red Velvet Cake

Ingredients:

  • 2-1/2 cups flour

  • 1-1/2 cups sugar

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp cocoa powder

  • 1-1/2 cups vegetable oil

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 cup buttermilk

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 tsp white vinegar

  • 2 tbsp red food coloring

  • Vegetable oil sprah

Directions:

  • Step 1:  Pre-heat oven to 350F degrees

  • Step 2: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, salt

  • Step 3: In another bowl, whisk together oil, buttermilk, eggs, food coloring, vinegar, vanilla

  • Step 4: In bowl of a stand mixer, mix together the dry and wet ingredients until fully combined

  • Step 5: Scrape down bowl and mix 1 more time

  • Step 6: Grease cake pans with vegetable oil spray (makes (2) 8 inch cakes or (3) 6 inch cakes)

  • Step 7: Place parchment circle at bottom of each cake pan

  • Step 8: Evenly divide the batter between cake pans

  • Step 9: Bake for 30 minutes until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean

*** FOR CUPCAKES, COOK AT SAME TEMP OF 350 DEGREES, 18 - 20 MINUTES
