Purple Ombre Cake


Ingredients:
-
(4) 8 inch vanilla cakes - CLICK HERE FOR RECIPE

Chocolate ganache - CLICK HERE FOR RECIPE

Macarons

Double batch vanilla American buttercream frosting (white, light purple, medium purple, dark purple) - CLICK HERE FOR RECIPE
Frosting Directions:
-
Step 1: Add 1/4 of the frosting into bowl with a drop of purple food coloring
-
Step 2: Repeat the process 2 more times, each time adding more and more food coloring until you have 3 bowls with different shades of purple
Cake Assembly Directions:

Step 1: Level all cakes with "cake leveler" or serrated knife

Step 2: Spread white frosting at center of cake board

Step 3: Place down 1st layer

Step 4: Cover first layer with white frosting

Step 5: Pipe chocolate ganache onto cake

Step 6: Place on 2nd cake layer and repeat the process with light purple buttercream and ganache

Step 7: Add 3rd cake layer with medium purple buttercream and ganache

Step 8: For the 4th layer, place upside down

Step 9: Pile white buttercream on top of cake and completely cover with a crumb coat

Step 10: Place in fridge for 20 minutes

Step 11: Remove from fridge and add a 2nd layer of white frosting

Step 12: Pipe 3 stripes of light purple on the bottom of cake with a round tip

Step 13: Pipe 3 stripes of medium purple above

Step 14: Pipe 3 stripes of dark purple at top of sides and top of cake

Step 15: With a bench scraper smooth out sides of cakes

Step 16: In a separate bag, pipe all 3 colors of buttercream (use star tip)

Step 17: Pipe dollops around top

Step 18: Place macarons on top
