Ombre Cake

Ingredients:

(3) 6 inch chocolate cakes - CLICK HERE FOR RECIPE

Vanilla American buttercream frosting (light purple, dark purple, light green, dark green, white) - CLICK HERE FOR RECIPE

Sprinkles

Frosting Directions:

Step 1: Split frosting into 5 bowls with the following colors (white, light green, dark green, light purple, dark purple)

Step 2: Place all 5 colors in separate piping bags
-
Step 3: For inside cake layers: Put green and purple in separate piping bags, then place in the same piping bag with no tip
Cake Assembly Directions:

Step 1: Level all cakes with "cake leveler" or serrated knife

Step 2: Take 1/2 of buttercream, dye green and purple

Step 3: Spread white buttercream on center of cake board

Step 4: Place 1st layer of cake on board

Step 5: With green/purple frosting mixture, pipe out a spiral on top

Step 6: Repeat steps for the next layer

Step 7: For the 3rd layer, place upside down

Step 8: Pile white frosting on top of cake and completely cover with a crumb coat

Step 9: Place in fridge for 20 minutes

Step 10: Remove from fridge and pipe stripes, starting with dark green, moving to light green, then light purple, and dark purple

Step 11: For top, pipe both light and dark purple to mix together

Step 12: Smooth out frosting on top of cake

Step 13: Use a bench scraper to smooth out sides of cake

Step 14: With a cake comb, go around sides 1 time

Step 15: Pipe light purple dollops on top of cake

Step 16: Pour sprinkles on top
