Cinco De Mayo Cake

Ingredients:

(3) 8 inch chocolate cakes - CLICK HERE FOR RECIPE

(3) 6 inch chocolate cakes
-
Double batch vanilla American buttercream frosting (red, white, green) - CLICK HERE FOR RECIPE

4 straws
-
Wilton tip 4B
-
Mexico flag
Cake Assembly Directions:
-
Step 1: Level cakes with a "cake leveler" or serrated knife

Step 2: Spread red frosting on center of cake board

Step 3: Place 8 inch cake down on board

Step 4: Spread red buttercream on top of 1st layer

Step 5: Repeat process with the 2nd layer

Step 6: Place 3rd 8 inch cake layer upside down

Step 7: Pile white buttercream on top of cake and spread out with an offset spatula

Step 8: Place in fridge for 20 minutes

Step 9: On a separate cake board, repeat same steps with 3 layers of 6 inch cakes using green frosting

Step 10: Pile white buttercream on top of cake and spread out with an offset spatula

Step 11: Place 6 inch cake in fridge for 20 minutes

Step 12: Remove 8 inch cakes from fridge and place straws around center going through

Step 13: Pipe stripes of green, red, and white buttercream

Step 14: Smooth out stripes using a bench scraper

Step 15: Remove 6 inch cakes from fridge and place on top of 8 inch cake

Step 16: With a #30 tip, pipe red buttercream on right 3rd side of cake

Step 17: With the same size tip, pipe left side with green frosting

Step 18: Pipe white frosting down the center

Step 19: Place Mexico flag on top of cake
