Buttercream Frosting

Ingredients:

  • 4 sticks unsalted butter (2 cups), room temperature

  • 8 cups powdered sugar

  • 1-1/2 cups cocoa powder

  • 4 - 8 tablespoons heavy cream (depends on preferred thickness)

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • Pinch of salt

** MAKES ENOUGH TO FROST A 3 LAYER 6" CAKE

Directions:

  • Step 1: Add cocoa powder to stand mixer

  • Step 2: Add powdered sugar to stand mixer

  • Step 3: Mix using a paddle attachment until fully combined (about 1 minute)

  • Step 4: Add all butter and mix on the lowest speed until dough forms

  • Step 5: Add heavy cream 1 tbsp at a time until reaches desired consistency (for light and fluffy add more than 4 tbsp)

  • Step 6: Add vanilla extract

  • Step 7: Add pinch of salt

 ** Make sure to taste buttercream! If too sweet, add more salt.
